Baguio City started Panagbenga 2014 with one of its highlights: the annual Street Dance Parade.

The parade started at 7:15 in the morning. The parade’s route started from the city’s Panagbenga Park and ended at the Athletic Bowl, where the main performances were held.

Elementary and High School students from different schools participated in the parade. Baguio City officials as well as representatives from Japan and Korea also joined the parade.

About 2.2 million people were out the streets of Baguio, which explains why roadsides were filled with viewers.

Tourists still crowded the overpasses despite the advisories posted by the DPWH District Engineers that an overpass can only carry a maximum of 200 people.

There were no cases of serious injuries. The two patients attended by the BBPICA only had blood pressure monitoring.

About 600 policemen were deployed by the Baguio City Police according to a Baguio City Police Officer.

The Athletic Bowl was already full of spectators at around 11 in the morning. Organizers temporarily stopped people from entering the Athletic Bowl due to the entrance of the participants in the parade.

The organizers resumed the entrance of tourists inside the Athletic Bowl as soon as the parade was over.

The dance competition started at 12 noon. It was participated by 11 schools – 9 entries from the Elementary Division and 6 from the Open Category.
